Sparkling Red Wine Sangria

Sparkling Red Wine Sangria

  • 2 plums, pitted and sliced thin
  • 1 Gala apple, cored and sliced thin
  • 2 oranges, one sliced (which I peeled before slicing but you don’t have to), the other juiced
  • 4 blackberries, cut into quarters
  • 1/4 cup Grand Mariner
  • 1 bottle of red wine, chilled (I used cabernet sauvignon)
  • 1 bottle of sparkling water
  • blackberries and thinly sliced orange, to garnish

In the bottom of a large glass pitcher, layer sliced orange, apple, plums, and blackberries.  Cover with 1/4 cup Grand Mariner and set aside, allowing fruit to macerate at room temperature for at least 1 hour.  After one hour, pour entire bottle of red wine over the macerated fruit.

To serve, place two blackberries at the bottom of a glass.  Pour sangria over the blackberries, filling the glass half way, making sure to add some of the macerated fruit to the glass as well.  Fill the rest of the glass with sparkling water, garnish with a slice of orange, and enjoy!
